Abbreviations: bFGF – basic fibroblast growth factor, MCP-1 – monocyte chemo-attractant protein 1, PDGF – platelet-derived growth factor, RCC – renal cell carcinoma, VEGF – vascular en-dothelial growth factor. Abstract. Using the protein array method we determined the serum levels of a number of angiogenic factors. We identified serum levels of angiogenin, PDGF and MCP-1 (CCL2 chemokine) in serum of 32 patients with RCC, and 14 healthy volunteers by means of antibody array analysis. The patients were divided into three groups according to their disease stages (I+II, III, and IV). We found significant differences between the controls and patients with RCC both pre-operatively and post-operatively in an-giogenin, PDGF and MCP-1 serum levels. The increase in angiogenin, PDGF and MCP-1 lasted in patients with RCC stages I-III even without meta-stases eight weeks post-operatively. The patients with stage IV RCC showed disturbed production of PDGF and MCP-1. Protein array analysis is a powerful tool for the identification of large numbers of trace proteins. Multiplex antibody array is able to provide data more precisely reflecting the nature of pathological processes.

Prognostic value of p53 in renal cell carcinoma
Background and Objectives: RCC is one of the most common genitourinary cancers. Accurate prediction of prognosis would be valuable for adjuvant trial design, counseling and effectively scheduling follow up visits. P53 is a tumor suppressor gene that expresses a protein that involved in both cell-cycle ar...
متن کاملNonfunctional Adrenocortical Carcinoma with Foci of Osseous Metaplasia in a Young Girl
Nonfunctional adrenocortical carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor in children. Unlike the functional tumor which is detected early due to its hormonal presentation, nonfunctional tumor is detected at a later stage. Here we report a case of a 10 year old girl who presented with abdominal mass and symptoms of short duration. No hypertension and cushingoid features were seen. Serum alpha...
متن کاملQuick Score and H-Score Assessment of P504s (AMACR) Expression in Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Relation with Histologic Grade
Background and Aims: P504S (AMACR) is a mitochondrial enzyme expressed in renal cell carcinoma. Some of immunohistochemical markers in renal cell tumors are independent prognostic factor and show relation with histologic grading. AMACR expression increases with higher histological grading in different tumors; however, in RCC it is not obvious. In this study, we tried to investigate if ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Serum Cytokine Levels in Larynx Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Dysplasia Patients
Background: Although the imbalance of cytokines in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) is well known, there is scarce data regarding its occurrence during dysplasia, before the malignant transformation. Objective: To determine whether laryngeal dysplasia patients show a different cytokine profile than patients with cancer and healthy controls. Methods: Seventeen newly diagnosed, untre...

The standard therapy for thyroid cancer is total or near total thyroidectomy, followed by the administration of radioactive iodine for remnant ablation or residual disease. Patients with radioiodine therapy are predisposed to second malignant neoplasms in organs such as central nervous system (CNS), breast, prostate, kidney, bone marrow, salivary gland, and digestive tract. Exposure to carcinog...
